Terms of use

This site does not do much — you read it, and you can write to us — so this page is short.

What this page covers

These terms cover your use of this website. They are between you and Founding Minds, Inc., a Delaware corporation.

They do not cover work we do for clients. That is governed by the agreement signed for it, and nothing on this page changes, adds to, or limits anything in such an agreement. If you are a client reading this, this page is not your contract.

What is on the site

The writing, the design, the case studies and the code samples on this site are ours, and so is our own account of the research we have done.

The papers themselves are not. Where this site quotes a published abstract, that text belongs to its authors and its publisher, and it appears here as a quotation under their terms, not ours. The same goes for anything else on the site we did not write.

Quote us and link to us freely, with attribution. What we ask you not to do is republish a piece whole, or pass it off as yours, or feed it into something that resells it as new writing.

Our clients' names and trademarks belong to them. Nothing on this page grants you any right to use them.

What the writing here is, and is not

The articles, case studies and research notes on this site are our experience written down. They are not advice for your situation, and we have not seen your system.

A case study describes what happened once, in one company, under conditions we knew and you may not share. Read it as evidence, not as a plan. Before acting on anything here, apply your own judgement or ask someone who has looked at your specific circumstances — which is a conversation we are happy to have.

Links to other places

We link out constantly — to papers, conference proceedings, videos and other companies' sites. We do not control any of them, we are not responsible for what they say, and a link is not an endorsement.

Availability, and no warranty

We try to keep this site up, accurate and current, and we sometimes fail at all three. The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that anything on it is complete or up to date.

We may change, move or remove any page without notice.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Founding Minds is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site, or from anything you did or did not do because of something you read here.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from them belongs in the state or federal courts located in California, and by using this site you agree to that.

Changes to these terms

If we change them, the new version goes on this page and the date at the top changes with it. Using the site after that means the new version applies to you.
